Transitioning from high school to college isn’t easy. Not only are you leaving your friends and family behind to start a new chapter of your life. But you’re also leaving those home cooked meals your mom made for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (ah…those were the days). And what about all those sports teams you were on? Instead of playing basketball, running track, and doing your best to keep up with your lacrosse teammates, you’re going to be spending a majority of your time in classes, studying in the library, hanging out with friends, and stuffing your face with crappy college food. But hey, that’s college!
You’ve probably heard the warnings of the dreaded “freshman 15.” You might not think it’s a real thing, but trust me when I say, IT IS! The food on a college campus isn’t the best. Sure, there are some healthy options. But let’s be real, if you can choose between a salad and Chick-fil-A chicken and fries, what are you going to choose? CHICKEN. That’s why it’s easy to gain weight your first year in college! There are just too many yummy, fried, and unhealthy options (plus, your mom isn’t there to tell you to eat your vegetables).
I’m not going to lie to you, staying healthy in college is hard and it’s something I definitely struggled with. But there are things you can do to keep your body fit and feeling good!
