Quick Ways To Quickly Get Rid Of Your Hickey

175

Don’t lie, you know you’ve either given a hickey or received one (or maybe both). While hickeys seem like a “fun thing to give” in the heat of the moment, having a giant mark on your neck is kind of embarrassing. Especially if you’re a professional who has to go to work the next day. Talk about unprofessional.

You don’t want everyone you see to know how you spent the previous night (wink wink). And now you don’t have to! Next time you wake up with a love mark, use one of these 10 methods to get rid of your hickey quickly:

Use Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol will only remove your hickey if you just got it! If it’s only been a couple hours, go ahead and use rubbing alcohol. Put a little bit on a cotton ball and then rub the cotton ball onto your hickey. Because rubbing alcohol can dry out your skin, apply a moisturizer (maybe something anti-inflammatory like aloe vera). Use rubbing alcohol on your hickey a couple times a day for the best results.

Apply Some Peppermint

You can use peppermint oil or peppermint toothpaste for this method. Whichever one you have, simply apply it to your hickey and rub it in. Don’t rub too much because the peppermint will burn your skin a little. You only need a little bit to improve blood circulation around the mark and get rid of the hickey altogether.

Hide The Mark With Makeup

Sometimes, the only thing you need to get rid of your hickey is a smidge of concealer. Even if you’re a guy, go into your girlfriend’s makeup closet or your mom’s and find the necessary concealer. You only need a small amount to cover your mark. Seriously, don’t overdo it with the concealer or your skin will probably look a little off.

Gently Massage

A hickey is really just blood clotted up to look like a bruise. One way to get rid of yours is by massaging the mark, in an attempt to scatter the blood clots. Put two fingers on your hickey and massage the mark counterclockwise for one minute. Then, massage your hickey in the other direction for another minute. If your hickey is small and not too noticeable, this technique should work.

Use A Frozen Spoon On Your Mark

You’ve probably heard of this trick before! The frozen spoon method has to be one of the oldest in the books. All you have to do is put a spoon in the freezer for a few minutes. Then, take the spoon out and wrap it in a paper towel or cloth. Place the towel or cloth onto your hickey and gently/carefully press it into your skin.

Drink Orange Juice

Oranges have vitamin C which can help heal all types of bruises. Oranges also have bleaching properties so they can fade any discolorationbytzwuecyytsdvbfutfdutwe. The best part about this method is that you can actually drink orange juice! Or, you can squeeze some oranges directly onto your mark. I recommend doing both if the hickey is really bad and you need to get rid of it ASAP.

Ice The Mark

Another way to get rid of a hickey is to treat it the same as you would any other bruise. How? By applying ice on the mark. Ice, or some sort of cold compress, will stop the blood from rushing to the mark which will decrease the visibility. This is another technique that’ll work best if you just received the hickey. If it’s day 3 of your love mark, try another option.

Place A Hot Towel On Your Mark

Have you tried everything to remove your hickey but nothing seems to work? Sounds like you have a tricky little love mark. Heat should help. If you have a hot compress, use that. But if you don’t, put water on a washcloth and then put that washcloth in the microwave for a couple minutes. Remove the cloth and put it directly on your hickey to improve blood flow and hopefully, remove the hickey completely.

Gently Apply Cocoa Butter

After you’ve finished with the hot towel, rub some cocoa butter onto the mark. Cocoa butter will moisturize your hickey and help it heal. Be careful with how you rub the cocoa butter on, though. You don’t want to be too aggressive with your hickey — it’s already been through enough. Be gentle as to not cause any more redness.

Take Advantage Of Your Clothes

Is your hickey on your neck? Cover it up with your clothes. If it’s cold outside, use a turtleneck to mask your mark. Or, you can ever use a scarf. If you’re lucky enough to have long hair, use your hair to hide the embarrassing bruise. Sometimes, the only thing you can do to get rid of a hickey is try to hide it.
