Ever since I was a kid, I pretty much kept my emotions to myself. I never thought I was sensitive. And because of that, people categorized me as “heartless” and “unemotional.” It wasn’t until my sophomore year of college when my dad made me see a therapist for my school-related anxiety, that I was given the diagnosis: I’m highly sensitive.
Highly sensitive people don’t cry every five seconds, they aren’t dramatic and crazy. Odds are, if you’re highly sensitive, you have absolutely no idea. I know I didn’t. But once I understood what it meant to be highly sensitive, I started to understand myself way better.
If you can relate to any of these 10 characteristics, you might be highly sensitive:
Highly sensitive people can walk into a room and automatically know what the vibe is. In seconds, they’ll be able to read the entire room. They’ll know who’s fighting with who, who’s pissed off at who, and who in the room is going to become their worst enemy. Highly sensitive people are like fortune tellers. They can read a person, and a situation, very quickly.
